Application Timeline for Full-time Recruitments

  • Application

    Make sure you fully update your application details and include the required attachments! Check out the close date or priority review date.

  • Application Review

    Our search committee reviews application within 2 weeks of the position close date listed in the job posting.

  • Interview

    Interviews typically occur 2-3 weeks after the position closes.

  • Finalist Interview

    You will hear from us within a week whether or not you are moving to the finalist interview stage with the President and/or Vice President.

  • Job Offer!

    We check references and complete background checks before we make an offer. Expect to hear from us within a week from your finalist interview!

  • Welcome to the LCC Team!

    We are eager to have new hires start as soon as they're able! We know and respect that most people provide at least a 2-week notice to their current employer and sometimes new employees are relocating so this can take anywhere from 2 - 4 weeks (or sometimes longer depending on other circumstances).

Required Documents Checklist

Maximum file fize is 10 MB, though the recommend size for attachments is at or below 5 MB.
Accepted file types typically include PDF, Word (DOC or DOCX), JPG, JPEG, and PNG files.
It is recommended to use the PDF format to maintain document formatting.

Resume

Your resume should include your relevant work history, certifications, and endorsements. Make sure it is up to date and clearly shows how your experience matches the requirements of the position.

Cover Letter

Your cover letter should highlight your interest in the position and how your experience and qualifications aligns with the qualifications on the job posting. You can address it to the hiring committee or department listed in the job posting.

Unofficial Transcripts

Depending on the position we may ask for a copy of your unofficial transcripts. You can typically get access to your unofficial transcripts by logging into your university's online portal or contacting them directly. (Please note, you will be asked to submit official transcripts after hire.)

What You Should Do

Use AI to tailor your resume, cover letter, and application with relevant keywords and professional formatting. Leverage it to brainstorm, structure, and quantify your achievements with data-driven impact. Prepare for interviews by using AI to research Lower Columbia College, higher ed trends, and anticipate common interview questions.

What You Should NOT Do

Copy AI responses without personal review or use it to exaggerate or falsify your experience.
Rely on AI for live interview answers, or not be honest about your AI use throughout the hiring process.

LCC supports the responsible use of AI tools but values authenticity above all. Our hiring process is human-led and designed to understand your real skills, experiences, and qualifications. Be genuine, provide specific examples, and contact HR if you have questions about using AI or the recruitment process.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I apply for multiple positions? 
    Yes! Even if you aren't selected for one position, there are many positions open at LCC that may be a good fit!
  • How do I check the status of my application? 
    You can check application status by logging into GovernmentJobs and selecting the menu to view current application status. If you have questions, please feel welcome to reach out to our HR team!
  • What if I don't think I meet all of the requirements? 
    There may be times you don't believe that you fully meet listed requirements, but our committees are trained to take transferable skills into account (when applicable)! 
  • Who can I contact if I'm having issues with my application? 
    Contact Becca Noce (rnoce@lowercolumbia.edu) if you're having issues with your application, and she can help with troubleshooting!
  • Do I have to use the online application process? 
    Yes, a formal online application must be submitted on SchoolJobs for consideration. Printed or written applications will not be accepted.

"Who Will Be Interviewing Me During the Committee or Finalist Interview Stage?"

Your committee interview will be made up of staff and faculty from every branch of the college, with committees that typically consist of 6-10 people. 

Finalist interviews typically are compromised of the VP overseeing the applicable department, one additional VP and the committee search advocate from the first interview. 

Faculty finalist interviews are done with Matt Seimears, LCC's President, and the VP of Instruction Kristen Finnel, with the Executive Director of DEI, Dan Ruiz.
